Tracking Data Coverage for a Complete Emissions Footprint

For all data input into the platform, Gravity calculates a Completeness metric that you can use to track data coverage for a given time period. You can use the Completeness metric to detect gaps in your data, and to encourage responsible parties within your company to provide the appropriate data.

Get Started

The Completeness metric is available at the company level, on aggregate object views, and at the individual site level. You can view this on any part of the application, and hovering over the icon will show you the date period for which the Completeness percentage is calculated.

View and reconcile data gaps

You can click on the icon to view specific data gaps for your data, and click on one to upload data for that data gap. You can upload data using all of the the same methods as regular data upload.

Calculation

Gravity calculates completeness on a by day, by activity level, which is aggregated up to the site or investment, and across all sites and investments.

  • By day: Every day in the completeness period must be covered by data. This can be any number pieces of data (e.g. 1 piece of data that covers the whole period, 1 piece of data per day for the whole period, or anything in between)
  • By activity: Each carbon-emitting activity must have coverage. For instance, if you have Natural Gas and Electricity at a site, both of these activities must have full coverage to be considered complete.

This metric is organization-specific. Administrators with access to multiple sub-organizations may see a different Completeness metrics in different sub-organizations, as the metric adjusts to applicable sites for each sub-organization. The company-level Site and Investment pages display the completeness metric for the entire company.

Date Range

Gravity uses the date range on the active Report, defined at the top of the application, to calculate data completeness. The date range can be of any length longer than 1 day, but is typically 1 year in adherence to most reporting protocols.

You can change the applicable date range by selecting the relevant reporting period.

To edit, add, or change the date range you want data completeness to be calculated, select the relevant reporting period in the drop down at the top of the platform.

To add or edit the Reporting Period, please take a look at our guide on Reports.
