Bill Scan Troubleshooting and File Upload Statuses
Gravity supports data uploaded via spreadsheets and document (pdf) formats for ingestion and transcription, and via integrations to directly pull in activity data. Once data is uploaded, Gravity's technology will extract the data, and our team will selectively review the data to ensure accuracy and completeness.
This guide outlines what you can expect after uploading a document to Gravity, and helps troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
File Verification
Documents such as .pdfs that are uploaded to Gravity are first processed using AI-supported technologies to extract relevant information. In addition, all files undergo validation to ensure that the data extracted is complete and accurate as there are many different formats, naming conventions, and document structures that may warrant closer scrutiny.
Data uploaded as a spreadsheet is structured and complete, and does not undergo further validation.
What do the statuses mean?
When data is provided to Gravity via a spreadsheet, document, or integration, you will see the following statuses.
Spreadsheets (.xlsx, .xls, .csv)
Status | Definition | Action |
Processed | The file is uploaded and the relevant activity data are extracted. | None, you are good to go! |
Attached | The file is attached to a piece of activity data that is manually input for reference. Activity data within the file are not automatically extracted. | You are good to go if you intend for the file to be an attachment. If you think that the data should be extracted instead, please upload the file via the “Upload CSV/XLSX” button. |

Language Support
Gravity currently supports English language electricity, fuel, natural gas, and waste bills. Support for other languages and bill types is on the roadmap. If you'd like to see a non-English language supported, please let us know using the Help and Support button on the bottom right of the screen!
Uploading Zipped or Password-Protected Files
If the file you're looking to upload is zipped (the file type is .zip) or password protected, please follow the below guidance for to unzip or unlock the file prior to upload. For your and Gravity's security, our system does not automatically unzip or unlock files for bill scan.
After the file is unzipped or password is removed from a file, simply upload it into the dropzone for processing.
