Industry Average Comparisons
Overview
After measuring your organization’s emissions for the first time, it’s natural to search for a point of comparison, or benchmark. Until carbon accounting becomes widespread, though, Gravity cautions against peer-to-peer emissions benchmarking. Instead, we suggest refocusing emissions comparisons to be internal and across time, and only use industry comparisons for broader climate journey stages. These two forms of evaluation are likely to prove more actionable starting points for your climate journey and more reliable indicators of the progress you make.
To help you get started, Gravity offers an industry average comparison tool to help contextualize your emissions to similar industries of similar sizes.

Get Started
Navigate to the Overview page and click on "Get Started" in the Industry Comparison tool. You will be prompted to answer a few questions, after which you will receive an estimate for the emissions of similar sized companies in your industry.
This is an estimate based on the size of your company, and the industry you're in. It's a great place to start, but industry averages can be misrepresentative of your actual emissions, and cannot be used for reporting purposes.
We recommend that you start measuring to achieve accurate results.
