Mapping your Emissions to your Organizational Structure

Overview

Organization Management allows a company to map, measure, and reduce their emissions according to how they are organizationally structured.  Using this feature, you can subdivide and map your emissions by department, region, or any other method of organization. You can also assign different users to specific Organizations.

Getting Started

To start mapping your organization in Gravity:

  1. Go to the top left of the screen and click on the name of the company to reveal the organization tree.
  2. “Current” shows the Organization that you are currently in; this is also displayed at the top. Click on the gear icon to see the configuration page for Organization Management.
  3. To add an organization, click “+Add Organization” on the top right. Enter the name of the (new, child) org, and select the (existing, parent) org to which the child org belongs.
    1. If you’re in the dropdown tree, you can also directly “Create an Organization”

Additionally:

  1. Assign users to the organizations by clicking on the organization and using the side panel.
  2. Move organizations to different parent organization by clicking on the […] next to each organization and selecting “Move”.
    1. Note that, at the moment, you can't move a Site/Fleet/Investment from one Organization to another.
  3. Delete organizations by clicking on "Settings" in a given organization and following the instructions.
    1. Note that only organizations with no user, suborganizations, or activity data can be deleted at this point.

Relationship to Sites and Fleets

As described above, Organization Management allows you to create a hierarchy of your emissions sources. Those emissions sources include Sites and Fleets – these are the physical places or objects that do the emitting. Each of these can be nested in its appropriate spot on your organizational hierarchy. The "organizations" within the hierarchy do not themselves correspond to places with physical addresses.
