How to Measure Your Financed Emissions (Investments)
This article explains how to get started measuring your financed emissions in the Gravity platform, and is therefore most relevant for financial services companies like private equity firms. For an overview of what financed emissions are, read this article.
First, navigate to the Investments section on the Measure page. If you haven’t created any yet, click the “+ Add an Asset” button in the upper right-hand corner. Complete the relevant information on your portfolio company’s industry and sub-industry, as well as your firm’s amount and dates of ownership.
To calculate emissions, click into an asset and select Add Activity Data. You can calculate emissions either from a company’s revenue figures, in which case Gravity uses industry average emissions information, or you can input emissions data directly if you know it. Soon, Gravity will add the ability to calculate asset emissions from spend data and physical activity data directly within the Financed Emissions view.
You can then return to the main Financed Emissions page for a bird’s eye view of all of your asset emissions over time.
